Because my name is not Thomas. It is Nikolai. And I am Russian spy.
~ Nikolai revealing his true identity to the Park staff.

Nikolai, also known as Thomas, is a major character in the Cartoon Network series Regular Show, serving as a major character in Seasons 4 and 5, the titular secondary antagonist of the Season 6 episode "The Real Thomas", and a minor character in Season 7.

He is an intern at the Park who is later revealed to be a Russian spy on a mission to steal the Park for Russia. After realizing his fellow spies were using him and who his true friends were, he betrays his country to save the Park and goes into hiding.

He was voiced by Roger Craig Smith.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • As part of an operation with the goal of improving Russian park technology, he infiltrated the Park under the guise of a college student volunteering as an intern, while secretly working with fellow spy Natalia in installing machinery and rockets to transport the Park to Russia.
  • He carried out the phases of the plan successfully without anyone noticing or suspecting him.
  • He is very skilled in hand-to-hand combat, showing this by swiftly defeating the agents hunting him down.
  • He has a tragic backstory of being abandoned as a baby and raised by the KGB to be a ruthless agent.
  • Despite deceiving the Park staff, he is genuinely friendly and easygoing with them even when they occasionally mistreat or criticize him.
  • During his time working at the Park, he helped the park crew in defeating many villains such as Gene.
  • He devises an elaborate and successful plan to retrieve a statue that Gene stole from the Park, in which he would infiltrate East Pines as an intern and gather essential information for the Park gang to take it back. In addition, he manages to rig Gene's walkie-talkie to blow up a stack of barrels as a distraction, cut off East Pines' fuel supply and communications, and trick the gatekeeper into letting the Park gang leave with the statue by means of a fake phone call which he prepared in advance.
  • When he learns the KGB's true plan is to destroy the Park and kill its workers, he refuses to follow through. After being reminded of his friendship with the park gang, he redeems himself by turning on Natalia and defeats her before foiling the plot.
  • After saving the Park, he goes on the run and continues to live out his life as a spy.
  • He later returns to the Park to visit his friends for the last time before going into hiding.
  • Although he lets his guard down and is spotted by agents at Wing Kingdom, he manages to evade and kill most of them through driving techniques.
  • He finally escapes the agents through faking his death by jumping out of a sewer tunnel and reveals to his friends that his rendezvous point is actually a submarine, before bidding farewell to them.

What Makes Him a Baddie?[]

  • He entered the United States under a false identity and was instrumental in the plot to steal the Park for Russia.
  • He had no qualms about capturing the Park gang and forcing them into labor camp in Russia, prior to his redemption.

Trivia[]

  • He and Doug Shablowski are the only Regular Show characters to be Magnificent Baddies. They both also have the same voice actor, Roger Craig Smith.
  • Originally, Thomas wasn't written as a spy but only a regular intern (which probably would've prevented him from being considered a Magnificent Baddie). The writers came up with the idea of him being a spy after seeing fans online wondering if he would develop as a character.
