Cause you're a decent guy. Take care of my little girl.
~ Walter parting ways with Spider-Man.

Walter Hardy is a minor antagonist of Marvel's Spider-Man. He is an overarching antagonist of The City That Never Sleeps DLC, due to being the original Black Cat, an infamous art thief, and the father of Felicia Hardy.

He is voiced by Daniel Riordan.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • Was a skilled art thief who hid his loot across the city to prevent detection by the cops that was never found for 20 years.
  • Tried to dissuade Felicia from becoming the new Black Cat to keep her safe.
  • Refused the Maggia's offer by realizing they are up to no good.
    • Although this kept his family on their radar, Walter successfully made the Maggia ineffective for any retaliation attempts due to surrendering to the cops.
  • Despite the above, Walter never expected the Maggia to wait for his release to retaliate.
  • He planned an escape attempt and faked his death so that the Maggia won't target him or Felicia.
  • Kept himself successfully hidden for 20 years and avoided getting tracked by both the Maggia and the cops.
  • Successfully tracked Spider-Man and got his phone number, arousing no suspicion from the web-slinger.
  • Manipulated Spider-Man into getting all of his art he had cleverly hidden all across the city by pretending to be a cop that needed the art for evidence.
  • Once Spider-Man had found out his real goal, Walter was already long gone, but Walter still acts polite to him regardless, saying he is a decent person and trusts that Spider-Man will look after his daughter in his absence during their final phone call.
  • Despite being arrogant in his past, the experience with the Maggia and the cops has led him to abandon this trait, thus becoming much more likeable in the present.

What Makes Him a Baddie?[]

  • Was infamous for stealing art worth millions, due to which he was eventually sentenced for several years.
  • Stole americium-241 from a smoke detector factory so that he could recover his paintings to sell.
  • Manipulated Spider-Man into getting his paintings back, due to which Spider-Man gained cynicism about trusting strangers.
