“ | John Kramer was right, the spiral. A symbol of change, evolution, progress. But why limit to an individual when you can apply it to a whole system? You got shot for doing the right thing. But let's face it, these cops? They're not going to clean up on their own. But we take a tongue here, a few bones there, they'll come around. We're going to fix a broken department. Okay? You and me. | „ |
~ William's offer to Zeke. |
William Schenk, also known as William Emmerson and The Spiral Killer, is the main antagonist of the ninth movie in the Saw franchise, Spiral: From The Book of Saw.
He is a copycat serial killer of John Kramer. His work involves putting corrupt cops from the police department into gruesome traps.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- Like his past counterpart, he is very manipulative, soft-speaking, and even affable, using his puppet to torment his victims just like Jigsaw.
- He has a tragedy of when his father was killed in cold blood by Peter Dunleavy when he was a young boy, causing him to fall to villainy, and he is an anti-villain because of his desire to punish corrupt cops.
- He fakes his whole identity to join the police department and investigate his own crimes and murders against his own colleagues.
- He is able to fake his death by making Benny's corpse look like his own and Marcus Banks look like the killer.
- He offers Zeke a chance to join his cause, only for Zeke to refuse.
- Due to this rejection, he gives Zeke an ultimatum, that he can either kill Schenk and let his father die, or shoot the target and save both of them.
- He manages to escape in the elevator scot-free, even as Zeke attacks him, and sarcastically tells him to shush, and not say anything.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- He brutally skinned Benny Wrights to death even after he did what William asked him to do.
- His traps are incredibly gruesome and, unlike most of John Kramer's traps, nearly impossible to escape:
- Marv Bozwick had to quickly rip out his tongue before the train came to hit him, which he failed.
- Detective Fitch couldn't rip off his fingers in time to escape the bathtub because the time was too short.
- Angie Garza was forced to sever her spinal cord to avoid hot wax being poured on her face, which did not work.
- He chains Zeke's arm hoping he will cut his own hand off, but he escapes without losing his hand.
- Peter Dunleavy was ruthlessly struck by thousands of broken glass shards, killing him.
- He hooks Marcus Banks's arm to a shotgun and calls the SWAT team, planting Banks as an assailant which caused him to get gunned down by SWAT even though Zeke passed the test.
Trivia[]
- He is one of the four MBs from the Saw Franchise. The other three are John Kramer, Lawrence Gordon, and Logan Nelson.
