Yancy is a major character in the CHYOA YouTube adventure series A Heist With Markiplier, either being an antagonist or supporting character depending on the choices the player makes. He is the affable and charismatic inmate of Happy Trails Penitentiary who leads the other inmates of it and helps them have a good time in the prison with him. Greeting the player, he will welcome them to the prison through a song he and the other inmates perform called "I Don't Wanna Be Free" and introduce them to the inmates in an attempt to convince them to stay. Depending on the options the player chooses, he can either become their friend by helping them stay in prison and have a good time, become their enemy and defeat them in a few battles, or start off becoming their enemy before taking their defeat with grace and helping them escape prison and thereby becoming their friend.
He is portrayed by Mark Fischbach, better known as Markiplier.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He has a friendly persona he puts on while welcoming the player and even shows himself to be willing to help them break free, giving him some likable traits to boost his charm.
- He puts on an amazing song called "I Don't Wanna Be Free", talking about the fun activities in prison and how great life is in prison with everyone putting on a good performance, great stunts, and singing greatly.
- He can charm the player into accepting his offer through his song and sticking with them, happily welcoming them with good food and helping them have good times as they fit in, welcoming new members, throwing birthday parties for the warden, or keeping the prison in tip-top shape, taking it with "gusto" and joy.
- He puts up a good boxing match against the player if they turn down his offer, managing to land some hits and dodge some from the player even if he winds up losing the fight in the end.
- He takes his defeat with grace, stopping the prisoners from attacking the player and offering them help to escape out of sympathy for them having someone worth fighting for out there.
- If the player refuses his second offer with a middle finger, he engages in a dance battle against them that he excels in, managing to perform excellent dancing moves and scoring a perfect score to beat the player before knocking them out and defeating them successfully.
- In the route where the player accepts his offer of help, after being put into solitary confinement by the warden, he manages to escape and sneak into the warden's office to kill him and take the item the player had to return it to them.
- He sneaks into the player's cell without anyone noticing, even managing to get underneath the mattress on the top bunk.
- He guides the player through a series of obstacles while wearing a ski mask in the sewer, brilliantly timing them to jump over two obstacles, helping them swim through water, following a series of patterns to duck twist, jump, pull, push, drop, jump, spin three times, reach up, grab, and pull hard and out of prison.
- It's implied that he may have done this before, stating that you never get used to the smell of the water.
- He is implied to regret his crimes, stating in a sad tone that he's done a lot of bad things while bidding farewell with the player and thinking he should stay in there.
- He befriends the player by helping them escape out of sympathy for them and states that he may give parole a chance when it comes around, telling them to visit him every third Sunday in the meantime. In A Space With Markiplier, he reveals his life has turned around for the better and thanks the player for the friendship they've shared with each other.
What Makes Him A Baddie?[]
- He is strongly implied to have killed his parents for criticizing him for having a Brooklyn accent despite being from Ohio.
- If the player accepts his offer to encourage them to stay in prison, this choice will lead to the player stabbing and possibly murdering another inmate in prison to avoid getting out on parole in order to stay in longer.
- If the player turns down his offer, he will engage in battle against them to attack them, successfully knocking them out in the dance battle.
- He is strongly implied to have killed the warden after breaking out of solitary confinement before helping the player break out, stating that he "had a little chat" with him.
