Zhu Li Moon is a supporting protagonist in The Legend of Korra. She is the faithful assistant (and later, wife) of Varrick. Always his equally brilliant sidekick in his various schemes, Zhu Li, tired of not getting respected by Varrick, enacts her own gambits to put a stop to Kuvira's plans. Upon her defeat and the ensuing turf wars by Tokuga, she becomes the second President of the United Republic.
She is voiced by Stephanie Sheh.
What Makes Her Magnificent?[]
- Even in Books 2 & 3, she is Varrick's hyper competent sidekick, able to exactly predict what Varrick wants to be done without him having to be actually specific rather than merely saying "Do the thing", which she carries out with dedicated precision. It is through her added assistance, Varrick's schemes go as far as they can.
- She is extremely loyal to Varrick, willing to stand by his side for most of the series and even be at the same cell as him and helping him pull through whatever trouble befalls them. This loyalty and faithfulness then eventually develops to genuine love as the 2 marry by the end of the series.
- Upon being tired of being disrespected by Varrick, she proves herself to be truly as brilliant in her own right, having feigned betrayal to Kuvira's side, deceiving everyone, fellow Magnificent Baddies Kuvira and Varrick included.
- Using her knowledge over the spirit weapon, Zhu Li schemes against Kuvira, learning of her plans to attack Republic City in 2 weeks, and sabotages the development of the spirit laser twice under the noses of all the equally brilliant scientists around her.
- The only one to figure out Zhu Li's true agenda was Kuvira herself, and when she is discovered by her as a traitor, Zhu Li defiantly calls her out for the tyrant that she is despite full awareness on what all fate would befall all those disloyal to her.
- Even upon returning to Varrick, she commands respect and stands her ground on being an equal to him than a mere assistant, leading to Varrick to develop genuine feelings for her as a result.
- Happily provides relief efforts over all the citizens of Republic City who were displaced by Kuvira's invasion and creation of the third spirit portal. With this and her natural charisma, upon competing against President Raiko out of disgust over his growing selfishness, Zhu Li ends up elected as the United Republic's second President.
What Makes Her a Baddie?[]
- Is willingly complicit on Varrick's evil schemes of profiting off an ever growing war and terrorism.
- Even if scheming against her, to keep her ruse she is very much willing to participate in Kuvira's crimes like setting up a trap to unlawfully imprison the Beifongs.
